Christie and Mike get married

“Have you ever watched a leaf leave a tree? It falls upward first, and then it drifts toward the ground, just as I find myself drifting toward you.”

– Beth Kephart

You could say that Christie & Mike‘s relationship is all about drifting slowly towards each other. Both grew up relatively close to each other, but Christie left home for university, lived in different towns once her career begun, until a job transfer landed her back in Belleville, Ontario (where she could begin drifting back to Mike). With a little help from the online dating world, the inevitable happened — these two met and quickly fell head over heels for each other and got married.

Before she was engaged, Christie shared her wish for me to be her wedding photographer… we both anxiously waited for Mike to propose. I think she messaged me within hours of wearing that shiny new rock and told me she’ll keep me posted with potential wedding dates.  Although November is not usually a popular month for weddings in Ontario, their late fall celebration was remarkably beautiful and a ton of fun.  You would never be able to tell from these images, but the weather was less than favourable.  After the ceremony in the chapel at her beloved St. Albert’s College, we made the most out of the short window of rain-free time with the newlyweds and their wedding party. To warm up, we re-joined the rest of their family and awesome friends for the reception at Occasions by the Bay.  The highlight of the night may have been a tie between the maid of honour singing her speech with lines from Taylor Swift songs or the surprise father/daughter choreographed dance!!

My personal favourite moment was near the end of the evening, when I spotted Christie’s mom dancing with her father and he leans over to me and says “now, that’s the best photo you’ve taken all day!

You can be the judge; here is the story of the Elsey’s wedding day.

red roses, white sand and turquoise sea

This is just a taste of what I’m working on for the next few days and I don’t want to brag, but it has been a very enjoyable couple of weeks at “the office.”  This incredible setting along the Mayan Riviera couldn’t have been more perfect for the long awaited nuptials of my brother and his stunning bride.   It’s no secret that this kid has had it bad for my new sister-in-law for many, many years … I wonder why???  All biases aside, I don’t think I have ever seen a more gorgeous couple!!  There will be plenty more to share, but for now, here’s a sneak peek of for the newlyweds who are returning home from their extended vacation today.  Love you both so much!

a perfect outdoor wedding in Almonte

To warm everyone up as the cooler temperatures set in, I am excited to share my favourite images from Erin & Jeff’s intimate wedding ceremony held along the riverbank in Almonte, Ontario.  The venue was incredible, the weather cooperated, and the bride and groom were nothing short of gorgeous.  The entire day reflected their fun, unique style and love for their tight-knit group of family and friends.  As cliché as it may sound, this was indeed a perfect outdoor wedding. The couple even had a good friend of theirs officiate the nuptials to add an extra personal touch!

I want to thank Jeff’s big sister Karin, a fellow photographer friend, for recommending me to the couple and allowing me to join in on a very magical day with your wonderful families. This also happens to be the largest photo blog share of mine to date, so sit back with a nice warm cup of tea and enjoy this lovely celebration!!
